David Millican is principal managing partner, co-founder, and chief strategist for Atlanta Capital Group overseeing investment management, comprehensive planning, and retirement plan services. David ensures all divisions are working cohesively towards the firm’s vision and principles.
David has lead Atlanta Capital Group’s acquisition of more than a dozen independent RIAs across the eastern United States, which has helped Atlanta Capital Group reach more than $1.5 billion in assets under management. He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, FundFire and Registered Rep. for this growth strategy. Forbes magazine named Atlanta Capital Group one of the fastest growing RIAs in 2013. For his financial insights and industry leadership, the Financial Services Institute invited him to Washington, D.C. to advise members of the United States Congress on economic policy.
David began his career in 1996 with A.G. Edwards and Sons, where he earned many of the firm’s top achievement awards. He then joined Morgan Keegan and Co., where he became one of the top financial advisors and was named a First Vice President. In 2002, David joined Jody Young and Jeff Shaver in forming Atlanta Capital Group. Their independent wealth advisory firm is based on their common vision and philosophy: put clients first, establish trust, provide unbiased advice, and build lasting client relationships.
David is a director of the Buckhead Coalition, the economic development and civic organization for the premier address in the Southeastern United States. He and his wife Caroline have four children: daughters Liza and Ellie and sons John and William. The family attends Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. His hobbies include playing golf and he enjoys spending time with his family when he is away from the office.
