Jody Young is founding principal partner of Atlanta Capital Group and heads the private family office division of one of the fastest growing RIAs in the country. Under Jody’s leadership the firm has grown from $80 million in assets under management to $1.5 billion today with offices in New York, Raleigh and St. Simons in addition to Atlanta.
Jody focuses on successful doctors’ groups and brought one of Atlanta’s largest pediatric emergency medical group’s retirement plan onto the Atlanta Capital Group investment platform and has formed an ongoing partnership with the Medical Association of Georgia, MAG, to provide retirement planning for its members.
Jody started his career with Morgan Keegan and Co., a regional brokerage firm in Atlanta, where he became one of the firm’s top financial advisors. Wachovia Bank NA recruited him away from Morgan Keegan to open and run a branch office. In 2002 he launched Atlanta Capital Group with Jeff Shaver and David Millican. Jody has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, SmartMoney and the Atlanta Business Chronicle for his insights into investing and wealth management. Forbes magazine named Atlanta Capital Group an Emerging RIA in 2013.
A native of Atlanta, Jody is a consumer finance advocate for several advisory boards and a major supporter of multiple charities both local and global. He has been honored as one of the outstanding young alumni of the University of Georgia. He serves on the Corporate Leadership Committee for Fernbank Museum of Natural History; he serves on the Board of Directors for the not-for-profit Concorde Fire Soccer Club and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital City Club.
Jody and his wife Kara are the doting parents of three children, Hadley, Harris, and Harlow Jean. The family attends Peachtree Road United Methodist Church, where Jody serves as an usher. He also enjoys golfing and just about any outdoor activity.
